I was chronically stressed out as a witless. I get crabby and hateful when I'm stressed out, and I can fly into a rage at the drop of a hat. Now that I am free, I'm much more relaxed and peaceful. I don't get annoyed with the kids or the dogs as easily. And I don't have to pretend to hate gay people anymore. I was never any good at that anyway.

Questions Young Ones Ask... What would you do with your life?
by garyneal inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waioj24dvbm.
did anyone see this video?
i've seen it before but my wife wanted to watch it again last night.

I couldn't even get through 30 seconds of that video. I think that telling young people to focus only on field circus and meetings and personal study is a real disservice. Even if a person wants nothing more in life than to clean toilets at Bethel, there's no guarantee that they will achieve their dream or that they will be able to stay there for life.

untitled
by The Searcher inthe evening before jesus died, he instigated two distinct and separate covenants; firstly, a new covenant which replaced the mosaic law covenant and was to be celebrated with wine and unleavened bread.
secondly, a covenant for a heavenly priesthood who would administer kingdom benefits to the earth.
a covenant is a legally binding agreement between at least two parties, and nobody can be a beneficiary of a covenant unless they are signatories and party to it.

Are you suggesting that everyone should partake of the emblems?

"Get out of the bleachers and into the game"... Memorial 2012 demonstration.
by koolaid-man innow is a good time to start making preparations for the memorial night demonstration at your kingdom hall thursday, april 5, 2012, after sundown.. close to 20 million people will attend this annual global witness event including active witnesses, relatives and friends of witnesses, bible studies, return visits and still attached former witnesses.
the evils of the watchtower org.have to be exposed and this is an ideal time to do it.. many around the world have been adversely affected by their association with jehovah's witnesses and you can be an instrumental force by standing tall and courageously exposing the watchtower organization.. there is no better way to let the watchtower know your revulsion than to broadcast and present your view by standing fearlessly, demonstrating in front of a kingdom hall.. i am fully aware that a handful of the internet therapists who post on this forum will not agree with this method of unmasking the watchtower.. those intolerant, contemptuous critics who will comment on this thread making harsh judgements and finding fault with those who protest are perhaps deep-down wishing they had the backbone to stop hiding in cyber-space, step away from their computer and "get out of the bleachers and into the game" .
lets make this a global event!......

the problem is that most of the new witnesses aren't actually adult converts- they are born in children. Can you imagine how a child would interpret a protest at a kindom hall? I would think that it would be terrifying for a kid, and of course they are going to listen to their parents about the meaning of the protests. The most zealous, unyielding witnesses I know are the ones who were raised as witnesses in the 1940s and 50s in Southern Illinois. It's like the constant hassling they endured permanently warped their brains.

Birthday
by lostinthought inso today is my birthday.
one of my "worldy" friends invited me over his house cause he thought being alone on my birthday was horrible.
we all had ice cream sunday's and we played words with friends, nothing extravagant but a way to recognize that i was born today.

I think I know the answer, but can I be in a "worldly wedding"?
by ex360shipper inwell for those of you who don't know i am on the long slow fade.
i do not go to meetings at all anymore, it has been 10 months since i last stepped foot in a kh, went to dc last year and will go to memorial for my mother.. good friend of mine, catholic, told me he is popping the question monday.
i know it will be in a catholic church.

One of the Boy Scout leaders of my sons' troop told me that when he got married (years ago - probably late 80's or early 90's), he asked his best friend to be his best man. The friend had become a witness (and is now the COBOE of the local hall). He refused to even attend the wedding because "it would be participating in false religion". So my money is on it being a huge problem if you got caught.

Elder's wives
by Zordino ini still go to meetings (sometimes) mostly to acompany my wife and kids.
i have known of jw friends of mine that have gone to elder's for family problems, dispute's with other cult member's or those hemroid's that just won't clear up.
whatever.... i personally never ever told an elder or elder's a stitch of info about my personal life or trouble's etc.

There was plenty of gossip in my former hall - but never the really good stuff that I wanted details on. Most of the talk was really pretty benign, unless one of the people directly involved decided to spill their guts to me. There was one brother that got DFd while I was attending, and I am still curious as to why. We were pretty friendly with him and his wife, and we never saw anything in his behavior that was inappropriate. All the other cases of people getting reproved or removed from privileges were pretty obvious - the MS whose teenage son got arrested for robbing a liquor store, the MS who got removed for telling people about playing the penny slots in Vegas.
